Next year, I will take organic chemistry. Can anyone recommend any good books to use to study organic chemistry and help me get a basic understanding of it before I take the class?

There is no flow in my class from topic to topic and I fall asleep out of lack of understanding or comprehension of the subject. How can I develop more interest, understanding, stay awake and get a good grade. I really need this biochemistry class. Organic Chemistry is a part of the Biochemistry.

I have no chemistry background. Do you think I could take organic chemistry before I take general chemistry, or would that be too hard?

I have to take Organic I and II in the fall. I am dreading it. What do you think of the different areas of Chemistry that I listed? What do you think of Biochemistry? In addition to taking Organic I and II, Physical I and II and Analytical, I have to take “Intrumental Analysis”, which shows how to use some cool technology used in the field of Chemistry.
Sorry yes, I will be taking Organic Chem I in Fall 2009, and Organic Chem II in Spring 2010. Sorry for the confusion.

I have just taken my Organic Chemistry Final Exam. After two semesters of organic chemistry, I have to say this is the hardest class I have taken because of the volume of information that I have to memorize. I have already scheduled Physical Chemistry for the fall semester, and I am asking those who have taken both Physical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry in college. Which is harder, and…how much harder is it than the other? Should the blood the sweat I poured into Organic Chemistry help me in Physical Chemistry?, or will I be in for a rude awakening?

I have organic chemistry demystified but topics seem out of order and all over the place and the explanations very elementary. I understand the subject but would prefer something that sums up major points.

I’m looking for a website that goes in-depth into hardcore Organic Chemistry, but one that can also explain the material in a clear way that’s easy to understand and take in. I’ve looked around, but am open to new suggestions. Anything is helpful! Thanks!
I wasn’t trying to diss book learning or anything (I have a huge required textbook): I was just trying to find some other way to learn the material. The reason I ask for websites is that they tend to have animations that might be helpful.

Organic Means that the object contains Carbon.
ALL food contains Carbon.
ALL food is Organic.
Organic is a Chemistry Term.
All Hydro Carbons are Organic.
All Oils and Alchohols are Hydro Carbons
So Based on Consumer hype
Since Organic Things are Good to Eat
And all Oils are Hydro-Carbons
And all Hydro-Carbons are Organic
Therefore Motor Oil is Organic
Therefore it is Good to eat
Therefore you can Pour it on your Salad as a dressing.

So why All the hype on a misleading term?
